space returns is a web based project that contemplates
the unseen spaces of production of digital technology.
As an artist and a technology worker, this project attempts to bridge both
audiences.
It contests the
ideology that the internet transcends space and embodyment, that as they say,
"there's no there there."
The project attempts to use the internet based
art projects to address the internet itself,
not taking it as a "transparent" medium.
This series of images "space returns null value" from the project were taken in
empty Silicon Valley office space after the burst of the
"internet bubble." The title of the work of course
describes the economic relation of the crash of commercial real estate following
the economic as though it were a line of code.
